About Danny’s Place: Danny’s Place is a space for youth to connect, get inspired, and grow.
Founded in 2006, in the heart of the Acton-Boxborough community of Massachusetts, Danny’s Place is a loving tribute to Danny McCarthy, who in his short life taught all of us the importance of living fully. We provide young people with experiences to explore, create, and discover their happiest, healthiest selves - through inclusive community programming, social-emotional experiences, and supportive resources. About Danny’s Place Programs: Our programs are for young people ages 8-18 in the Acton-Boxborough area. All of our programs fall under three focus areas: mental health & wellness, self-exploration & life skills, and leadership & community building.
Mental health & wellness: Participants learn to take a proactive approach to physical and emotional wellness through programs in this category, which instill healthy habits for lifelong physical and mental wellness. These programs also help provide a support structure for struggling young people–a connection that reinforces to them that they matter and are capable of managing their challenges.
Self-exploration & life skills: To combat the pressures of competition and expectations of excellence in many areas of life, these programs offer a safe space to explore different activities, learn new skills, and connect with peers in a non-competitive way. Social-emotional learning is at the core, with different modalities and themes of focus to foster self-advocacy skills and respect for others while having fun and learning.
Leadership & community building: Unique opportunities for teens to find and use their voice in a supportive environment. With the guidance of a mentor, participants learn to make a positive impact through self-designed community service projects. Throughout, they build confidence, deepen their understanding of what they are passionate about, and discover their potential to be a helpful and successful community member - however they individually define it.
