Since its opening in March 2006, Danny’s Place has enjoyed great success. Its popularity will continue to grow as local children
mature with us and help to shape its activities, programs and services
Danny’s Place will cost almost $200,000 per year to operate, covering the full-time youth director’s compensation; space rental and
related charges from the AB school district; and operating and overhead costs. We keep our administrative costs at a minimum
through staffing by dedicated volunteers. Annual membership fees will cover less than 20% of this cost. Since Danny’s Place is a
privately-operated non-profit, we do not receive any local or state funding.
As a result, we will need to rely heavily on the generosity of parents of school-age children, as well as the goodwill of the citizens of
Acton and Boxborough at large, to keep the center and the worthwhile programming that Danny’s Place provides to our teenagers
alive and prospering. We know that many of you are already burdened heavily by the demands of other worthwhile causes, but we
hope you will share our vision of sustaining this haven of social and emotional support for our community’s youth at such a critical
stage in their development.
With a great deal of help from our friends, we built Danny’s Place to provide our teenagers with a place of their own in remembrance
of Danny McCarthy. Please join us in pledging your financial support to Danny’s Place for the current operating year.
